In the late 1970s and early '80s, hip-hop was dominated by Harlem and the South Bronx. But by 1983, Queens and Brooklyn were becoming major players in hip-hop - and it was only a matter of time before cities ranging from Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Oakland to Miami and Atlanta became major players as well. Further, major rap scenes would thrive all over Europe, although few European rappers had as much commercial success in the . as they did in their own countries.
The Movement is the only album released by Harlem World. It was released on March 9, 1999 through So So Def Recordings and featured production from Jermaine Dupri, the Trackmasters and then unknown producers Kanye West and Just Blaze. The album was a success, making it to 11 on the Billboard 200 and 5 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and was certified gold on April 12, 1999. Two singles were spawned from the album, "I Really Like It" and "Cali Chronic". The album is now out of print.

His 1997 album Harlem World was Grammy nominated and certified quadruple Platinum by RIAA Contents. 1993-97: Children of the Corn and Bad Boy record deal. Although the album was not as big a commercial success as Harlem World, the singles "Welcome Back" and "Breathe, Stretch, Shake" received moderate radio airplay and video play on BET and MTV, with the latter single reaching on the US Billboard Hot 100. Both singles were also certified gold by the RIAA. Under G-Unit, he released Crucified 4 The Hood: 10 Years of Hate, a mixtape from the DJ Whoo Kid series, but an official album was never released. Following the formula that worked for him 13 years ago, Mase has begun to appear on R&B artists' remixes.
