Felisberto, an innocent piano tuner, is summoned to Droz’s secluded villa to service his strange musical automatons. Little by little Felisberto learns of the doctor’s plans to stage a diabolical opera and of Malvina’s fate. In 2003 the Quays made four short films in collaboration with composer Steve Martland for a live event at the Tate Modern in London and in 2005 premiered their second feature film, THE PIANO TUNER OF EARTHQUAKES, at the Locarno Film Festival. In 2012 the Quay Brothers were honored with a career retrospective gallery exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Retrieved 1 January 2018. Christopher Slaski is a composer who has created music for films, television and live performance. He is a past recipient of the award for Best Young European Film Composer presented by the World Soundtrack Academy in Ghent and in 2017 his score for A Good American was nominated for best music by the Austrian Film Academy, he is a member of the European Film Academy. They are influential stop-motion animators, they are the recipients of the 1998 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Set Design for their work on the play The Chairs. The Quay Brothers reside and work in England, having moved there in 1969 to study at the Royal College of Art, London after studying illustration and film at the Philadelphia College of Art, now the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
The Piano is the original soundtrack, on the Virgin Records label, of the 1993 Academy Award-winning film The Piano. The original score was composed by Michael Nyman and is his twentieth album release. Despite being called a "soundtrack", this is a partial score re-recording, as Nyman himself also performs the piano on the album (whereas the film version is performed by lead actress Holly Hunter).
