Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Supertown is the first single from Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, the fifth studio album by recording artist Rob Zombie. The song was released on February 23, 2013. The song laments the state of rock radio as it currently stands. The video features a breakdancing skeleton along with performance by Zombie's wife Sheri Moon Zombie.
Radio City is the second album by the American rock group Big Star. Released in 1974, Radio City was recorded during 1973 at Memphis' Ardent Studios. Though not a commercial success at the time, it is now recognized as a milestone album in the history of power pop music. Critically acclaimed upon its release, the record sold poorly, partly due to a lack of promotion and the distribution problems of the band's struggling record label, Ardent Records
This album is dedicated to Keith Haring, at the Apocalypse - William S. Burroughs.
willy vlyminck The best pop album I heard in ages, Keefer Rourke. Keefer Rourke Brilliantly executed. Even in unstable times, the world is a still a beautiful place, and so is this album. I can't stop listening. It’s been everything not to get a scrape on my knee, on my elbow, on my face, where I go to hurt. Slow down in every way. Speed up a grip on time. When everything looks bad, it’s just a time to start. I’ll make everything look like it’s happy. I’ll make everything look like it’s rad.
The car is on fire, and there's no driver at the wheel And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides And a dark wind blows. The government is corrupt And we're on so many drugs With the radio on and the curtains drawn. We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine And the machine is bleeding to death. The sun has fallen down And the billboards are all leering And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles.
One of the best Burroughs recordings, Dead City Radio features the writer reading five previously unreleased pieces, along with selections from several of his books. The acerbic Burroughs wit is at its finest on many of these selections, and he even takes a shot at singing on one track. Musical contributors to this project include Sonic Youth, Donald Fagen, Lenny Pickett, Cheryl Hardwick, Chris Stein, and John Cale.
Radio City and the Dead haggled over who would pay the leftover production costs. Despite the Music Hall’s strenuous and repeated objections, the band’s representatives refused to remove small portions of the tape that were potentially damaging to the Music Hall’s image and reputation and in violation of the standards mandated by the contract, read Radio City’s filing. Radio City Music Hall allowed the Dead to proceed with plans for a cable special of the show for Showtime, but thanks to the suit, the Dead wouldn’t be allowed to use the now-outlawed poster or any Radio City logos on either Reckoning or Dead Set. One final disaster was averted Halloween night.
We listen to the Radio - Dead Radio. I'll tell you one thing man: nothing ever happens until you medicate the Witch Queen of Mongo and Hail the passing of King George. Everybody is eating on behalf of the Gods with their Plastic Necks and Silver Teeth. Is there life beyond what you know? Hallucination thrives on my stereo Astonishing Skeptics Wasted Youth She's and Angel of Odd in her Birthday Suit. Turn it up turn it up turn it up Oh Yeah. We listen to the Radio - Dead Radio We listen to the Radio - Dead Radio
