For those who love Susan Howe's poetry this is really a great opportunity to listen to this author reading aloud some of her poems accompanied by a really good musical composition. It is a different way of approaching poetry, not just read it on the page but listening to it as what it is: an artistict composition to be represented.

Her work is often classified as Postmodern because it expands traditional notions of genre (fiction, essay, prose and poetry). Many of Howe's books are layered with historical, mythical, and other references, often presented in an unorthodox format.
Versatile sound artist David Grubbs and innovative poet Susan Howe have no illusions about the mass appeal of their recent collaboration. Their CD, Thiefth (Blue Chopsticks), is limited to 500 copies, and their only scheduled appearances are this one and another in Chicago. The CD might not sell many polyphonic ring tones, but it's more emotionally resonant than the academic exercise one might fear.
