Chuck Prophet was born in Whittier, California, United States and calls San Francisco home. After recording one . and eight albums with rock group Green on Red, he released his first solo record Brother Aldo on Fire Records in 1990. It was not released in the . . 2007 Dreaming Waylon's Dreams (Evangeline). 2009: ¡Let Freedom Ring! (Cooking Vinyl, Yep Roc).
Dreaming Waylon's Dreams is a faithful, but more overtly muscular, facsimile of Waylon Jennings's 1975 opus Dreaming My Dreams, itself a set of covers. When Carla Bozulich rewired Willie Nelson's Red Headed Stranger set, she discovered a hallucinogenic underworld within it. Prophet is reluctant to take huge liberties with his source, but slowing Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way? to a bristly lope is an inspired moment.
Chuck Prophet is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist, born June 28, 1963. A Californian, Prophet first achieved notice in the American rock group Green on Red, with whom he toured and recorded in the 1980s. He has also recorded solo records that betray his affinity for the kind of intelligent and sometimes experimental pop made by British Invasion groups. In addition, he has gained notice as a songwriter. Solomon Burke, Heart, Kim Carnes, Peter Wolf, Kim Richey and Kelly Willis have covered his compositions
