Dolly Parton - "Sweet Summer Lovin’". Another song not from the Parton pen, this one featured some intriguing production that blurred the lines between country and disco, making for one of her more appealing departures of sound. 13. Dolly Parton - "Yellow Roses". With Ricky Skaggs taking creative control of her 1989 album White Limozeen, Parton returned to her country roots with her most traditional album in ages. At the heart of that project was this exquisite ballad, which brought her a final solo number one hit. 12. Dolly Parton - "The Seeker"

Dolly Parton has had such a lengthy career it's easy to forget her early years in Music City singing with Porter Wagoner led to some of her best work. Wagoner and Parton's 1967 duet "The Last Thing On My Mind," written by Tom Paxton, went to No. 6 on the country chart. Dolly and Porter would go on to have a string of top 10 hits for the next six years with songs like "If Teardrops Were Pennies" and "Just Between You and M. 11. "My Tennessee Mountain Home". The Smoky Mountains were possibly the greatest muse for the Sevierville, Tenn. The album helped boost Parton's career and, along with the O Brother Where Art Thou? soundtrack, brought bluegrass to mainstream audiences. Parton's 1971 hit "Joshua" became her first single to hit No. 1 on the country charts.

Although most of Parton’s hits were written by the country legend herself, this 1977 single was written by husband-and-wife songwriting duo Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. Originally intended for Brenda Lee, Here You Come Again was selected to broaden Parton’s pop appeal-despite her initial hesitation. She said a monkey could record this song and have a hit with it, her manager Sandy Gallin told Sirius XM earlier this year.
