Album: Bellowhead, Hedonism (Navigator). Sunday 3 October 2010 00:00. The UK's most decorated shouty folk-mayhem ensemble returns with a third album as clever, tremulous, huff-puffy and post-ancient as a Pogues fan could wish for. They do Jacques Brel ("Amsterdam") and lots of Trad Anon, humping and bumping hither and yon without the restraint that characterises rock'n'roll and other traditional forms.

This album has an average beat per minute of 122 BPM (slowest/fastest tempos: 118/132 BPM). See its BPM profile at the bottom of the page.

Their third album Hedonism was the highest-selling independently released traditional folk album of all time, yet the new one Broadside (a title that rather cunningly melds an early form of printed song sharing with an appropriate nautical reference to firepower) is surely set to eclipse it with its thrilling arrangements and non-stop party spirit. Simply, there is no one else quite like Bellowhead. Formed in 2004 by renowned duo John Spiers (melodeon, concertina) and Jon Boden (vocals, fiddle), this 11-piece big band fuses an exceptional amount of individual musical talent into something unique and truly uplifting.
