A Symphony: New England Holidays, also known as A New England Holiday Symphony or simply a Holiday Symphony, is a composition for orchestra written by Charles Ives. It took Ives from 1897 to 1913 to complete all four movements. Decoration Day. The Fourth of July. Thanksgiving and Forefathers' Day. The movements coincide with each season; winter, spring, summer, and fall, respectively

Thanksgiving and Forefather's Day. Three Places in New England (Orchestral Set No. 1): The ''St. Gaudens'' in Boston Common (Col. Robert Gould Shaw and his Colored Regiment). 1): Putnam's Camp, Redding, Connecticut. 1): The Housatonic at Stockbridge. Charles Ives - Holidays Symphony & Three Places in New England/ - . 0. Bernstein never recorded "Three Places in New England," strangely enough, and Ormandy's rendition is full of energy and gorgeous playing - it will more than do in a pinch. The evocation of mist over the Housatonic River in the third movement isn't diaphanous, but that hardly matters wehn the Philadelphia Sound is spread so lusciously. Putnam's Camp is as raucously jovial as anyone could want. We also get the two extremes of Ives's evolution, early and late.
