Deee-Lite - Dewdrops In The Garden FLAC album

Anyone care to comment on the sound quality?Who does Get On Down use for their mastering and pressing?Thanks.

My side C is also off center, but at an unacceptable amount. Mastering is fine. The album was most likely mixed down to DAT in the first place, so...

The sound quality is comparable to the CD. I was hoping the sound on vinyl would be less compressed, but at least there is no distortion. If you're already familiar with the tracks, you'll find this a fine representation, but don't expect any additional nuance. The credits for mastering given are the same as the on the original issue, but I don't know if that's correct or if the insert was just reproduced as-is. The runout groove has an etching of the Get On Down catalog number and the initals that appear to be NrP and a G in a circle.The cover indicates that this release was pressed by Rhino. The pressing itself is quite good. My side C is a bit off center but not terribly so. The sleeve is a bit flimsy and should have been bigger to accommodate two records. The artwork reproduction is okay but not stellar.

Is this pressing colored vinyl? I know there was a very limited Turntable Lab pressing on pink vinyl that sold out right away. But I saw another record store advertise having new copies that were purple.

No purple. Only pink which was a limited run for Turntable Lab.

Thanks! I've ordered this. I've not seen purple vinyl mentioned anywhere else, so I'll assume that was a mistake and such a pressing doesn't exist.

Black vinyl this. The one on TTL was a limited pressing.

I own the original & this copy and the only difference ive noticed is that the cover & back image seems a lower res version of the original & with less clarity(which for SOME reason happens to reissues of 90s albums). But regardless still very satisfied this got repressed for all the true deeelite fans out there! I remember this being not so easy to find when it was originally released. Thanks Get On Down & Turntable Lab. Btw i believe fat beats is getting a standard black version also, for those that missed out on the pink copy!

Great sounding pressing! Packaging is pretty standard- plain white sleeves and 1 color lyric insert. Great to have this on vinyl!!!

Dont pay flipper prices,just yet anyway!It "sold out" yesterday on turntablelab.com website but today they put more up for only 27.99! Buy from the source & support indie record stores that do awesome stuff like this!!I began to believe this would never get repressed. So very happy it did! Amazing album.

Just received this pressing, I have owned the original pressing for years & I can tell you if it’s sound quality your looking for, this newer pressing is far superior to the original. This new pressing sounds amazing!

The color of the vinyl has no bearing on the sonics, btw. I don't have an original pressing, but the only way it can be superior is if this re-issue was over compressed/limited.

I disagree I have both as well and the black is superior to me, this is a good pressing but doesnt compare, I would take the black over gimmicky color and also the source used for this isnt the same

turntable lab has limited copies for $27.99. definitely better than the 100 asking price here,

TTL HAD copies at @27.99 starting at 4pm on December 19th. You could still buy a copy online as late as yesterday afternoon. Just checked their website. All gone. Now $100- is going to look like a bargain. But don't despair: Just like those Beatles Mono and Stereo CD boxes "limited to 10,000 copies worldwide" (complete bullshit), if demand was great for this album, they'll repress it.

What a wonderful album I was a raver in my early teens when this album came out. At 40 I'm still listening to it. It has aged very well. Brings back such fun memories for this old speaker tweaker. Where did the time go?

i remember my "Deee-lite" in finding out that this cd has a few bonus tracks on the end of the CD.. back in the days of late 80s + a major treat from back in the days of the early 90s when the recording industry had everyone convinced CD's would replace LPs for good:) lol yea right

The hidden track 16C "Untitled Instrumental", is actually "Party Happening People" (Funky Chunky Bonus Beats).

Few bands seem as stranded in their time as the early 90's international club-pop combo, Deee-lite. Comprising of Ohio-born Lady Miss Kier, Russian Super DJ Dmitry(not from Paris) and Japanese DJ Towa Tei, they were a prominent part of the pop landscape due to their absolutely huge 1991 hit, 'Groove Is In The Heart'. The one whose bassline(provided by Funk Legend Bootsy Collins) few 90's clubbers could fail to recognise. 'Dewdrops In The Garden', containing the comparatively minor hit, 'Picnic In The Summertime', is an album that is much more than the sum of its parts, which happened to include samples from then new electronic geniuses like The Orb and Carl Craig(who later remixed the track'Good beat' which featured a sample of his) alongside the more standard beats and riffs from Jimmy McGriff, The Clash, Marlena Shaw, The Detroit Emeralds and Earth, Wind & Fire. To me, the record is one of the most hallucinogenic commercial pop albums of all time, with tracks like 'River Of Freedom' displaying true dancefloor chops. The album proudly stands beside De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Happy Mondays, Soul II Soul and even Massive Attack as an aural representation of the early 90's music and fashion zeitgeist, albeit with slightly less well known tunes. Neat tricks, like in 'Somebody', where the 120bpm beat slows down to about 55 while subtly changing to a human beatbox rhythm, abound in an atmosphere of pure euphoric trippiness that takes in synths, samples and layered sounds akin to the wonderful music of the aforementioned 'Orb. At the same time, every song somehow evokes exotic clubs and the type of fashion boutiques it played endlessly in without being completely repugnant for that fact. I discovered the album around the same time I was beginning to realise dance music was a lot more than either the moronic Happy Hardcore rubbish or elitist electronic snob anthems I'd been exposed to in my school days. While Daft Punk and the Chemical Brothers' debut lp's were just around the corner 'Dewdrops IN The Garden'(along with Leftfield's debut and the existing Prodigy and Orb albums) helped pave the way for me to fall for dance music hard.As I got deeper into the many different styles of contemporary dance music, 'Dewdrops In The Garden' remained a favourite, even asserting its relevance a bit later on in 1996 when DJ Misjah & Tim sampled 'Picnic In The Summertime' for their techno/hardhouse club smash, 'Access'. If any one album can fleetingly recreate the feelings I had in mid-90's summers, as I began to discover clubs, drugs and girls, it would undoubtedly be 'Dewdrops In The Garden'. Songs like 'Party Happening People' with its thirties piano loop, flute, drippy synths and Amen Brother beat are still utterly fantastic and fresh to,my ear and 'Picnic In The Summertime' is still the song I think of when the city gets so hot you can feel the heat of the tarmac through your trainers. If you have ever liked tripping, house and techno music, jolly ranchers or being in love, you need to hear this record!

Great review, Dewdrops in the Garden, my favorite album of all time. I was a Deee-lite fan from the start but this album is just outstanding. I have a spare copy, still shrink wrapped, just in case it ever breaks, it’s permanently in my car cd changer. If you are a dance music fan, no matter what genre, please check out this album. I promise you, you won't be disappointed.

If anyone is willing to sell a copy of this at a reasonable used vinyl price, please contact me first. I have history with this album and have been searching for it on vinyl, but unfortunately incapable of paying these resell/"flipper" prices. Any PLAYABLE condition is fine. I seem to be in the same predicament as you! Loved this album always and now trying to find it- only avail for 60-70 dollars. :/
