Symphony No. 10, Performing Version Of The Draft Prepared By Deryck Cooke. A. 1st Movement: Adagio. 2nd Movement: Scherzo. 3rd Movement: Purgatorio (Allegro Moderato). 10 by Gustav Mahler was written in the summer of 1910, and was his final composition. At the time of Mahler's death the composition was substantially complete in the form of a continuous draft, but not fully elaborated or orchestrated, and thus not performable. Only the first movement is regarded as reasonably complete and performable as Mahler intended.

Symphony No 10 by Gustav Mahler (Revised performing version of Mahler's draft prepared 166-74 by Deryck Cooke in colaboration with Berthold Goldschmidt, Colin Matthews and David Matthews). 1. Adagio 2. Scherzo 3. Purgatorio (Allegretto moderato) 4. (Scherzo) 5. Finale Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Simon Rattle, conductor. Para mí esta enorme sinfonía es la que mejor expresa el inmenso drama interior y la riqueza anímica de Mahler. Esta debería denominarse "Trágica" y no la sexta, con independencia de su autoría. 3 weeks ago. The adagio as the first movement is so outrageously gorgeous that it isn't describable in words.

Mahler: Symphony No. 10 has been added to your Cart. This was one of Simon Rattle's first major recordings, made before he became music director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and it remains one of his best interpretively. He leads a viscerally exciting performance of Mahler's 10th Symphony, which incorporates some changes made to Deryck Cooke's final performing version of the unfinished score. Some of these (the cymbal crash at the end of the second movement) are successful, and others (the extra percussion at the climax of the finale) are less so.

Sir Simon Rattle previously recorded Deryck Cooke's performing version of Mahler's incomplete Tenth in June 1980. Mahler Symphony 10. A live recording of Rattle's return to Mahler's Tenth made just after his appointment as the BPO's new conductor. View record and artist details. Record and Artist Details.
