Releasing an arsenal of material that even on their worst days is better than most labels on their best, the production duo/label known as DFA has been much in demand for the first half of the 2000s for their signature production aesthetic.
The DFA Remixes is a series of two remix compilations by influential dance-punk production duo The DFA (James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy). Unlike previous DFA releases, these are remixes of other artists' work. The first album in the series, Chapter One, was released on 27 March 2006 in the UK and 4 April 2006 in the US. The second album, Chapter Two, was released on the 2 October 2006 in the UK and 3 October in the US.

Chapter Two is scheduled to be released later this summer with remixes of Junior Senior, Nine Inch Nails, Goldfrapp, and several other well-liked groups. So, the members of the DFA live and die by their song selection.
While the tracks are longer and more realized, they're still distinctly remixes instantly recognizable as DFA output - a mark of individual distinction many remixers strive to attain but few reach.
The DFA's knack to straddle the different worlds of musical consumption is rooted primarily in its choice of sounds and groove. Murphy and Goldsworthy stick to funky sounds that haven't been dehumanized by the technology they employ: the clavinet in Le Tigre's "Deceptacon" or the natural percussion in Soulwax's "Another Excuse" and Radio 4's "Dance to the Underground" all pulse with the undeceiving insinuation of physical touch.
