Maureen Forrester made her professional debut with the Montreal Elgar Choir in Edward Elgar's The Music Makers on December 8, 1951 at the Salvation Army Citadel. With the Opera Guild of Montreal she was a sewing girl in Charpentier's Louise on January 9-10, 1953 and the Innkeeper in Boris Godunov on January 8-9, 1954. Among other pianists with whom Forrester has collaborated in recital are Stuart Hamilton, Donald Nolan, John Arpin, Derek Bampton, and David Warrack. In 1965 she and Lois Marshall joined the USA-based Bach Aria Group (founded in 1946 by William H. Scheide), bringing the number of Canadians in the group's quartet of singers to three (with Norman Farrow, bass-baritone, an original member). Forrester sang with the group until 1974.

Maureen Forrester - A Brahms-Schumann Recital Maureen Forrester. Label: Sony Classical. Album including Album cover. Maureen Forrester Born of Scottish-Irish descent in a working-class French-speaking Montreal neighbourhood in 1930, Forrester sang in choirs as a child and studied the piano. She dropped out of school at age 13 to help pay for singing lessons by working as a secretary at Bell Canada. Additional financial assistance came from the Montreal Social Club.

His television collaboration with Yehudi Menuhin in 1965, in which they played works by Bach, Beethoven and Schoenberg, was called a success by Stegemann (1993b) because "Menuhin was ready to embrace the new perspectives opened up by an unorthodox view". Gould grew up in Toronto at the same time that Canadian theorists Marshall McLuhan, Northrop Frye, and Harold Innis were making their mark on communications studies. Anthologies of Gould's writing and letters have been published, and Library and Archives Canada holds a significant portion of his papers.
