Clapton's rendition became a success, prompting Cale to re-record the song for Cale's 1972 album Naturally. In 1988, Clapton later re-recorded the song for a Michelob beer commercial and then released the re-recording as a single. After Midnight" has been considered one of Clapton's signature songs throughout his career

The Midas touch, touch, touch, touch. You say you're going through changes Every day it seems your life is up and down And you say that you're lookin' for an answer Everywhere you look it seems you can't be found. I've got the Midas touch Everything I touch turns to gold, oh sugar I've got the Midas touch Baby, let me touch your body and your soul. Now you've been trapped by love Someone takes your heart and then says goodbye So you say that you'll never love another Tired of playin' games and that's the reason why.

0 Stay Midnight Sons. Music: Lars Aass, Bottolf Lødemel. Lyrics: Lars Aass, Bottolf Lødemel. Stay with me baby, don’t walk away, oo. .Face to face, this is it, you’re leaving This must be the moment of truth We’ve had our problems I know, yes baby I will make it all up to you. If I could turn back time I would do it I’d undo the things, the things I did to you. So, stay with me baby, don’t walk away I can’t go on, need you every day Stay with me baby, don’t let it end Won’t give you up, I can’t stop So, stay with me baby  . Stay with me baby, don’t walk away I can’t go on, need you every day Stay with me baby, don’t let it end Won’t give you up, I can’t stop So, stay with me baby, just stay.
