Caustic Window is an eponymous album by Richard D. James under the alias Caustic Window. Originally planned for release in 1994, the album was abandoned, with only five test copies being produced. A pseudonym or alias is a name that a person or group assumes for a particular purpose, which can differ from their first or true name  . The title of this release is very similar to another Caustic Window release titled Joyrex J9i. - All tracks were later re-released on the album Compilatio. mage: Joyrex J9iivinyllabel.

Caustic Window is Aphex Twin's hardcore techno aegis. As the title of this CD indicates, it's a compilation of EPs which had been released on Richard's own Rephlex label. Well, I don't think this album is as well-crafted and interesting as Richard's output under the Aphex Twin or AFX name. Many tracks are very aggressive, featuring banging percussion, 'caustic' sequencers and other acid techno ingredients. It sounds forced, much like 'hey, let's make a nasty, noisy track'. Richard's good musical sense is buried under this brutal noise.

Vinyl version is missing 1 song each from each of the eps (Popcorn, R2D2, and Humanoid Must Not Escape). CD version is missing the first 2 but has HMNE. Joyrex J4. 4:30.

Richard D. James' techno experiments under his Caustic Window moniker are gathered in this compilation, revealing a restless and unusual mind.

The album was released in December 1994. The album consists of the Digeridoo and Xylem Tube EPs combined onto one CD with a handful of other songs. The album contains James' signature acid house sensibilities

I have to say that this was one of the most dissapointing releases I have ever encountered from the man known as "Aphex Twin", Richard D. James. It features a lot of hardcore techno, repetition, and only a few ambient pieces. Arguably the great ambient tracks make up for the mediocre harder tracks, but the musical coherence of the album is just abominable. Nowhere near the genius that Aphex Twin displays consistently on his other releases.

Whaat I love the breakcore and breakbeat caustic window does. I enjoy his soft stuff but the intense ones are legit!
