In 1944 he formed Cozy Cole's All Star Band and Cozy Cole & His Quintette and that year had a 10 on the Harlem Hit Parade (now the R&B charts) with Just One More Chance b/w Blue Moon on Keynote 1300, and also appeared in the 1944 movie Make Mine Music with Benny Goodman. The so-called B-side, Topsy II, actually was the bigger charter, going to 1 R&B/ 3 Billboard Pop Hot 100 in November 1958, while the flip, Topsy I, made it to 27 Hot 100. These were Cole's debut recordings. Originally recorded and released in sets of 78 . records between 1944–49, they were reissued in 1950 on 10-inch LPs. The original releases of Volume 3 (as 78 . record album) and Volume 4 (as 78 . m record album and as 45 . record box set) only contained 6 songs (3 records per set).
