Renaissance is the seventh studio album by the Village People released in 1981  . In spite of being universally panned by critics, the album peaked at on the Billboard 200. The album includes two singles, "Do You Wanna Spend the Night" and "5 O'Clock in the Morning" The album's artwork has found popularity as an Internet meme as one of the worst album covers of all time.

Renaissance is the seventh studio album by American disco group The Village People, released in 1981. In 1980, the Village People had starred in the motion picture Can't Stop the Music alongside Caitlyn Jenner (then known as Bruce); however, the film was released after disco's peak, and the album was a box office flop. The group was signed to Casablanca Records; however, the label went out of business, and RCA signed the group in 1981 with plans to re-make them over in New Wave style. David Hodo, the "construction worker," recalled in a 2014 interview with PopMatters that the RCA executives were "passing around ideas" for how to re-style the group.

The album failed commercially and critically and most were turned off by the unexpected change in direction.
