It is so unlike him to just suddenly not show up. Then, almost like clockwork, Tom heard the quick paced footsteps of Tord's black flats. Tom sighed in relief as he heard Tord start to climb up the other side of the fence. Hey! Sorry I'm late- I got you some ice cream. Tom gasped and jumped to his feet, running to the fence and taking the ice cream cone Tord was holding towards him. Vanilla, his favourite. Tord happily dropped into the yard and sat on the grass, Tom sitting next to him, their knees touching. You remembered my favourite kind. Tom said as he licked the melting ice.

Every little thing seemed to prevent him from falling asleep. The ticking hands of his bedside clock, the sound of the breeze gently rocking the trees, and he could have sworn he heard footsteps from the creaking floor boards in the attic. He tried listening to calming music, he tried drinking warm milk. But nothing seemed to work. Well if sleep is out of the question, he might as well do something. Slipping out of his covers, Tom stretched and made his way to his desk, opening the drawer to find looseleaf papers and a pencil case. Maybe writing would calm his nerves. Fair enough, now come o. Tom followed Tord as he climbed the fence. With Tom only being in baggy pants and a short sleeved shirt he was a little chilly, but he learned to ignore it. "So where are you taking me exactly?"
