Hop Along is an American indie rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, formerly known as Hop Along, Queen Ansleis. Hop Along began as an acoustic freak folk solo project known as Hop Along, Queen Ansleis in 2004, during Frances Quinlan's senior year in high school. This led to the release of the album Freshman Year in the summer of 2005. Quinlan performed an acoustic solo act for several years as she honed her style.

With its swift reissue on Saddle Creek, Get Disowned now feels like it could’ve been Painted Shut’s complicated, difficult follow-up, but one that stands to be just as beloved, because this band remains virtually peerless in indie rock

Get Disowned Tracklist. 1. Some Grace Lyrics. Painted Shut is the third album by Hop Along, released in 2012 via Saddle Creek and on Big Scary Monsters in the Europe. Get Disowned Q&A. Backing Vocals Chrissy Tashjian. Cello, Slide Guitar Nick Bockrath.

Although releasing the buoyant and immensely satisfying Freshman Year in 2006, that album was mostly overlooked by a large number of people until the hype train started rolling on Hop Along. One listen back to Freshman Year, and it's clear that Frances Quinlan is a very unique and talented young artist who was bursting with the potential to make a positive impact in the indie/folk genre. So, two things could happen next: Frances Quinlan could keep doing what she was doing, and become a star in her own right, being highly respected and controlling a devoted fan base

A jagged course of punky indie rock, Get Disowned is the fiery debut of Philadelphia four-piece Hop Along. Metamorphosing from the lo-fi, indie folk solo project of songwriter/vocalist Frances Quinlan called Hop Along, Queen Ansleis, the band - which includes Quinlan's brother Mark on drums - ups the intensity to better reinforce the singer's jaw-dropping vocal grit. It's a voice that recalls Janis Joplin in pliability - and that might even be an understatement.
