Tito Puente - Mambo Birdland, Disc NM, Case NM, Format: Music CD, RMM Records. Latin music CD release from Tito Puente with the album Mambo Birdland. Released on the label RMM Records. Fittingly, Tito Puente's final album (save for a collaboration with Eddie Palmieri) finds the great nist taking a young audience into the past with an in-concert set of classics including the title track, "Ban Ban Quere," and, of course, "Oye Como V. The energy never wanes as Puente visits his many styles ("Cha Cha Cha Mambo," for one) and tempos. Particularly hot is the percussive breakdown on "Guaguanco Margarito," which is both smashing and subtle in the way of only the very finest jazz.

Oye Como Va" is a song written by Latin jazz and mambo musician Tito Puente in 1962. Mexican-American rock group Santana's rendition further popularized the song, which reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 11 on the Billboard Easy Listening survey, and number 32 on the R&B chart. The title comes from the first words, which can be translated as "Listen to how goes" or "Hey, how is it going".

Tito Puente (1923-2000) was a bandleader, percussionist, composer, and arranger from New York City. View full artist profile. Play all. Eddie Palmieri.
