Originally released as an Anni-Frid Lyngstad solo song in 1975, ABBA re-released this song in 1976 and eventually turned this into one of the best-selling songs of all time. It was written by Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Stig Anderson. Ulvaeus recalled writing the song in the book 1000 UK Hits: That lyric is so banal and I didn’t like it. It was a love lyric, someone who loved Fernando, but I inherited the word ‘Fernando’ and I thought long and hard, what does Fernando tell me?
ABBA re-recorded this song in English with completely different lyrics in 1976, and it was their first non-album single, though it was a part of their album "Arrival" issued in Australia and New Zealand. In most other countries it was only on greatest hits compilations. Björn Ulvaeus said about the origin of this song, "I thought long and hard, what does Fernando tell me?. I was in my summerhouse one starry evening. and I thought of two old comrades from some guerrilla war in Mexico who would be sitting in the porch and reminiscing about what happened to them back then.

Fernando (оригинал Abba). Фернандо (перевод mickushka). Can you hear the drums Fernando? I remember long ago another starry night like this. In the firelight Fernando. You were humming to yourself and softly strumming your guitar. There was something in the air that night. They were shining there for you and me. Though I never thought that we could lose.

ABBA – Fernando Lyrics. Can you hear the drums fernando? I remember long ago another starry night like this. You were humming to yourself and softly strumming your guitar. I could hear the distant drums. And sounds of bugle calls were coming from afar. They were closer now fernando. Every hour every minute seemed to last eternity. I was so afraid fernando. We were young and full of life and none of us prepared to die. And I'm not ashamed to say. The roar of guns and cannons almost made me cry. There was something in the air that night
This line is from the song "Fernando" by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus from the album Greatest Hits (1976). Memories can be a magical thing. And that's what "Fernando" is all about. The song is basically about two old Mexican revolutionaries (one's named Fernando) reminiscing about the good old days when they fought on the Rio Grande. There was something in the air. Liberty! Ah, memorie. eautiful memories. Now you may be wondering which war these ABBA guys are talking about? Well, we don't exactly know. The Mexican Revolution, which began in 1910? Or the Spanish Civil War in 1936? It's probably just any war in general where a guy might be named Fernando and someone could be hanging out on the Rio Grande. We promise not to think about it too much if you won't. Where you've heard it.
