Driven by punchy horn charts and the silken vocals of Kinshasa, Zaire-born and London-based vocalist Nsimba Foggis Bitendi, Taxi Pata Pata has been called the "world's best soukous band. The New Musi. ead Full Biography. A member of the Bantu people, Bitendi formed Taxi Pata Pata shortly after moving to England in the mid-'80s. The group's debut album, Aime Bebe, was released in 1986. A decade later, Bitendi and the band embarked on a five-continent tour of the show Bingo: A Musical Extravaganza, which Bitendi composed based on the tales and legends of the Bakongo people of Central Africa. Together with members of the group, Bitendi founded the School of Rhythm and Sound, in London, where they offer a variety of courses in African music and culture.
