Harmonium was a Quebec progressive rock band formed in 1972 in Montreal. Lead vocalist and guitarist Serge Fiori met Michel Normandeau (vocals and guitar) in a theatre music meeting in November 1972. Later on, in 1973, they met bassist Louis Valois and formed Harmonium. In November 1973, the group performed their first air play on CHOM-FM. They played 3 tracks: "Pour un instant", "Un musicien parmi tant d'autres", and "Un refrain parmi tant d'autres".

Harmonium ‎– Harmonium. Label: Celebration ‎– CEL 1893, Celebration ‎– CEL-1893. Format: Vinyl, LP, Album. Iconic group/album of Québec and the 70's. Good music never dies. Very good job on the details and images in this version. I assume the "accents" on the label turned out whitish-gray on the pictures, my copy being mostly grey coloured for the accents on the Célébration label. Reply See 1 reply Notify me Helpful.

Harmonium was the eponymous debut album by Québécois band Harmonium released in 1974. It was their most folk driven album, and features the song that made them famous "Pour un instant". It features nowhere near as exotic instrumentation as on their later albums, mostly sticking to simple guitar and bass arrangements, with occurrences of drums on a few songs. Studio album by. Side one.

Harmonium's first album was recorded as a trio. Singer-guitarist Serge Fiori and guitarist Michel Normandeau wrote all the music and lyrics. Harmonium includes "Pour un Instant" ("For a Moment"), which became a hit in the summer of 1974 in Québec and remains to this day the best-known song of the band, enjoying constant radio airplay. Harmonium," "Aujourd'hui, Je Dis Bonjour à la Vie" ("Today, I Say Hello to Life"), and "Un Musicien Parmi Tant d'Autres" ("One Musician Among Many Others") have been standard singalongs around campfires for decades and remain some of the first songs any young Québecois starting on guitar will learn to play.

Harmonium's career was short (five years) and ended for all the right reasons: The members felt they had said all they had to say in the best possible way. Consequently, the three studio albums (plus one live) they left to posterity can all be considered important artistic statements.

Harmonium" is a "folky" album, but it contains progressive elements too. By their 2nd album, they were very much a cross between a symphonic rock band and a folk band; an interesting combination which you can hear most clearly on the 20-minute "Histoire Sans Paroles". Overall, a perfect album to start your French Canadian prog collection. With "L'Heptade", they reached their e zenith. In addition to the now increasingly large band, classical instruments and mellotron are used throughout. This elegant double album is a testament.
