The Correct Use of Soap is the third studio album by British post-punk band Magazine, released by Virgin Records in 1980. It contains some of Magazine's best-known and most popular songs, including the singles "A Song from Under the Floorboards" and "Sweetheart Contract" and their cover of Sly and the Family Stone's "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)". A different version of this album was released in Canada in 1980, by then distributor Polygram Records.

The Correct Use of Soap (1980). Magic, Murder and the Weather (1981). The album was produced by Magazine and John Brand. The album was originally released as an LP and cassette in December 1980. The album was subsequently released as a budget album on LP, cassette and CD in the late 1980s.

This album is my 4th favourite album of Magazine. I like their first two more and also No Thyself, because The Correct Use Of Soap is too light for me sometimes, but the lyrics are great as always, like in "Model Worker" for example. Still one of my top 10 post-punk bands. Digging: Stendeck - Sonnambula. Staff & Contributors // Site Forum // Contact us.

Where the Power Is. The Correct Use of Soap. This is something of a return to standard operational form for Magazine, who thawed after recording Secondhand Daylight to throw together an energetic batch of colorful and rhythmically intricate songs. It's an unexpected move considering that they enlisted Martin Hannett (Joy Division, A Certain Ratio, Crispy Ambulance), master of the gray hues, as the producer
