Okay, I'll admit it: I'm doing Pink Floyd now because I think it'll bring lots of viewers here. That's not pure cynicism, though: in doing my three-part retrospective of Hipgnosis's best cover designs, obviously the Floyd are a constant. Perhaps the first rock group to cultivate a very individualistic visual element to their music, Pink Floyd were shrewd enough to understand the importance of iconic album art - the importance, that is, of an album as an objet d'art, with an intrinsic value as an object regardless of the music it contains

Three Pink Floyd albums celebrate anniversaries this year. These little, sometimes almost imperceptible, tributes to older songs make this record seem like a real Pink Floyd album, even if just for a few moments, then again, since it is now immersed in a totally different context, it appears to be a little anachronistic or, if you want, outdated. The Endless River is a must-listen for every die-hard fan and it is recommended for anyone who wants to find out a little bit more about Pink Floyd’s musical horizons; still, it is far from becoming a timeless classic. 14. A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987).

Pink Floyd's "The Wall" remains the bestselling double album of all time. A new documentary, "Roger Waters The Wall," charts the story of the landmark recording and that of its key creator. Breaking down walls: Pink Floyd's story comes to cinemas. The story of Pink Floyd. British musician George Rogers Waters was one of the founders of Pink Floyd. He formed the group in 1965 and kept up the momentum, even as frontman and key songwriter Syd Barrett left the group in 1968 due to mental health and drug issues. They founded the cover band Sigma 6, later changing the name to The Tea Set. In 1965, Syd Barrett changed it yet again to the Pink Floyd Sound - named after blues musicians Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. This photo captures Waters (22), Mason (22), Barrett (21) and Wright (21) in March 1967 in London. New decade, new sound.

Pink Floyd's surprise announcement of a new album called 'The Endless River' came out of nowhere. Here's what you need to know. Pink Floyd has confirmed the release of its 15th studio album, 'The Endless River,' due on November 10. The project, which finds David Gilmour and Nick Mason completing work on previously unreleased sessions with the late Rick Wright, will be co-produced by Phil Manzanera, Youth and Andy Jackson.

The first album from Pink Floyd and a sparkling testament to the genius of Syd Barrett who wrote virtually the whole of this psychedelic masterpiece off the top of his head, so to speak. Liberated by LSD, Barrett’s songs take flight on a magic carpet of cosmic philosophy (Astronomy Domine, Chapter 24), surreal whimsy (Matilda Mother, Flaming), and sublime nursery rhyme lyrics (The Gnome, Scarecrow, Bike’), bolstered by trippy, technicolour instrumentals (Interstellar Overdrive, Pow R Toc H). The rest of the band are willing and able fellow travellers.

Here you will find specialized discographies of official Pink Floyd releases from all over the world.

It’s considered to be one of the most intriguing album covers in rock history. The picture in Pink Floyd’s A Momentary Lapse of Reason is, just like the band, a visual representation of extreme surrealism. But what’s most bizarre than the cover itself, is the story behind it. Designed by the late Storm Thorgerson, the image contains no CGI or photoshop trickery whatsoever.
