Helter Skelter" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1968 double album The Beatles (also known as "the White Album"). The song was a product of McCartney's attempt to create a sound as loud and dirty as possible. The Beatles' recording has been noted for its "proto-metal roar" and is considered by music historians to be a key influence in the early development of heavy metal
Helter Skelter represented how they felt towards the end of their Joshua Tree tour. The demands of the film crews following them for the Rattle And Hum documentary and the rigors of the tour were wearing them down. Bono introduced this by saying: "This is a song Charles Manson stole from The Beatles, well we're stealin' it back. Charles Manson's followers wrote "Helter Skelter" in blood when they killed Sharon Tate and her friends. He interpreted the title as being about an imminent race war and apocalypse. Bob from Levittown, PaI can't believe someone redid Helter Skelter by the Beatles. You can't redo one of the best songs ever written by the Beatles.
Paul McCartney was joined on stage by the Grateful Dead‘s Bob Weir last night as his One On One tour continued at Fenway Park in Boston. Weir was up on stage for the encore, and helped Sir Paul through a rendition of Wings‘ ‘Hi Hi Hi‘ and The Beatles‘ White Album classic ‘Helter Skelter‘. The One On One tour remains in North America for the rest of the summer, most immediately at the FirstOntario Centre on Thursday, before he returns to the US in October for the big Desert Trip event.
Elsewhere on the album, Kiss takes on Venus and Mars / Rock Show, Alice Cooper handles Eleanor Rigby and the Who‘s Roger Daltrey belts out Helter Skelter. Onetime McCartney producer Ralph Sall dreamt up the project in 2003 when he worked with the Beatle on reviving the song A Love for You from McCartney’s sessions for the 1971 album, Ram, for the In-Laws soundtrack . Paul Rodgers – Let Me Roll It 15. Roger Daltrey – Helter Skelter 16. Def Leppard – Helen Wheels 17. The Cure, featuring James McCartney – Hello Goodbye 18.
