From the Mouth of the Cave by Katy: Whether it’s a defeatist attitude towards your own abilities, an abusive relationship you just can’t leave or fixed ideas about what music should sound like and how women should behave, there is invariably at least one area in all our lives where we could use a bit of enlightenment. This dark little corner of denial or ignorance is, to get all Platonic on you for a moment, a bit like a cave – THE Cave in fact . Hello Spider is the song that nearly did not make the album, but would most definitely make Gaggle: The Musical. It’s about anxiety and fear. A wise lady told me that sometimes you just have to say hello to things you are scared of.
And now, Gaggle are ready to unleash their debut album. From the Mouth of the Cave’ will be released on June 25th through Transgressive Records. It was this project that transformed perceptions of Gaggle from novelty to cultural force, leading to a performance on Jools Holland with My Morning Jacket, a commission for International Women’s Day 2012 that saw Deborah make a piece to lead 1,000 women along the Thames and now, a feature documentary is also in the works. Though she’s always been aware of the sheer power of Gaggle as an idea, Deborah has always striven for more.
Out 25th June on Transgressive. On paper Gaggle are a very interesting prospect: a twenty-one-strong choir, all of whom are women. Formed in 2008, the time has come to see whether this concept translates into a cohesive collection of songs. The number of topics and genres touched upon by Gaggle here is impressive, though sometimes it can get a bit cluttered. Power Of Money’ moves along with a slowly pulsing, tribal groove; while ‘Gaslight’ is fraught with tension and laced with glitchy drum patterns
I really enjoy the ease of the program. I find that we have been able to apply it in a multitude of ways for the company. Including on-boarding, internal metrics growth, events success, etc. We are solving for an issue of poor external branding. When arriving at my company people were hesitant to be an advocate, but now, with GaggleAMP we have empowered others to be casters of the space with an easy to use program. I like that GaggleAMP seamlessly integrates with all social platforms of the user and the good part is that you decide which social platform you want to use/not use and can instantly turn it on/off as per your needs. It has helped employees get their social profiles more active and engaged. Before this we had a lot of content but just didn't have the right tool to disseminate it to employees. Alina Noronha Fernandes.
Formed back in 2008 by Deborah Coughlin, Gaggle has slowly been creating something of a stir on the live circuit, and From The Mouth Of The Cave represents their first full length album since their inception. Strangely the opening title track doesn’t initially sound like a choral piece at all, and this is something of a blessing
