Janie Marie Fricke (born December 19, 1947) is an American country music singer, best remembered for a series of country music hits in the early to mid-1980s. Fricke was one of the most popular female country singers of the 1980s, producing a string of hits and proving herself a versatile vocalist with a particular flair for ballads. She won the Country Music Association's "Female Vocalist of the Year" awards in 1982 and 1983. Fricke has sold 14 million records worldwide. Fricke's 1985 album, Somebody Else's Fire, peaked at number 21 on the Top Country Albums chart and yielded three top-10 hits. Also during this time, Fricke reprised her role of background vocalist on two of Merle Haggard's 1985 singles, "Natural High," and "A Place to Fall Apart," the latter of which became a number-one hit.

Fricke soon began to dominate the country charts with smash hits such as Don't Worry ' Bout Me Baby, He's a Heartache and You're Heart's Not In It. It was only a matter of time before she started winning awards. Included among them are: Country Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year, Music City News Female Vocalist of the Year, "Billboard" Top Country Female Vocalist, "Cash Bed' Top Country Female Vocalist, Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year, British-based Country Music Round Up Most Popular International Female Solo. In 2000, she mounted a comeback tour behind the album Bouncin' Back, and two years later issued the concert set Live at Billy Bob's Texas, which featured many of her old hits.
