"The Trap"
The only "DAT" Master copy of this track was lost 20 years ago in 1997 somewhere between Dom's Studio and Music House in Holloway Road. Dom has been searching for this holy grail of "Amen choppage" since, the only reference to it a crusty recording of a Grooverider show from 1998. At various points there have been glimmers of hope of the wearabouts of the track in its entirety, with much excitement from avid followers who have given "The Trap" a status akin to a cult classic film. Many years, rifled sheds, boxes and lofts later, the breakthrough everyone is waiting for happens. It is Christmas 2016 and a subversive character from Australia sends in the full original quality version, recorded from DAT tape, to Dom & Roland Productions HQ. After a full going over in Dom's lab and a wonderful new mastering job by beau at 1087 the amen legend known only as "The Trap" is ready to be unleashed.

"Swarm" unreleased from 96/97 Metalheadz at Blue Note era.

Track durations are not listed on release.

Release notes from Bandcamp:'Gold limited edition vinyl "Dubs from the Dungeons" Release no.2. Another double sided highly sought after Dubplate from the "Metalheadz Blue Note" era. Previously thought lost in the depth of the dungeons 20 years ago. The original DAT tapes have been found and have been freshly mastered for this exciting April 2017 release!'

A delight Firece found the DAT! Great release - looking forward to other discoveries. The story :https://daily.bandcamp.com/2017/04/19/dom-roland-feature/

Not certain but very likely late '96, 97 (judging from the sounds, track structure etc)

The Trap is one of the scenes ultimate holy grails of the techstep movement, the pinnacle of Doms sound in the late 90s if you ask me. I never thought this one would ever see the light of day, bag a copy right now before the prices go through the roof! Can't wait to see what other unreleased gems are unearthed on this sub label.

The production on "The Trap" sounds great. The initial break is filtered to sound the way it does on purpose and I think a lot of people are confusing that for "sounding poor". When the main amen kicks in, it's as clear as day. People can't understand any production that's not overly produced and compressed to hell...which actually sucks. I can't stand modern day drum & bass for this reason - no dynamics, no subtlety.

Yep, sounds pretty poor, even when compared to the flip side

Jakhutchins I listened to this at Charlie's and the press sounds pants Would have to agree. The Trap sounds muddy and like the amens are a bit more distorted than intended. Disappointing.

Just got my copy in the mail and it sounds fine to me, fwiw.

In what way pants? Like muddy and in need of further remasterage?
