The Gamits in Denver, 2012. Background information. The Gamits is an American band who formed in 1996 and have been called "America's best hidden pop/punk secret". The band was disbanded in 2005 due to the members wishing to participate in and start other projects, but regrouped in late 2009. The current line-up is Chris Fogal on guitar and vocals, Forrest Bartosh on drums and Johnny Wilson on bass and background vocals. 2003: Leaps and Bounds - Japanese-only compilation (CR Japan). 2006: Golden Sometimes - 4 disk box set (Suburban Home Records).
In support of this album, the band toured the United States several times, including one tour with the Teen Idols. The band’s next release, (which was the final with Barosh and Van Leuven) was the EP, A Small Price to Pay. The EP featured live regulars Reset, Beach Boy, Don’t Make me Show You, Spec and Bender. The Gamits toured Japan for the first time in support of the Japanese-only compilation record, Leaps and Bounds, which featured tracks from all previous releases and Like White Noise. Temporarily handling bass on this tour was Scott Weigel, formerly of The Fairlanes. In 2003, Scott Swarers and Jason Walker joined the band playing bass and drums respectively.

Leaps and Bounds" is from their debut double album, Gossip (1986). Bradman" did not appear on a studio album until the international version of Under the Sun (1988). The single reached top 100 in the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart. Leaps and Bounds" is a song with a length of three minutes and twenty-two seconds. Its lyrics and music was written by Kelly with Chris Langman. I played him my new songs as they kept coming and we made up tunes together".
The album cover depicts a Native on a horse trying to cross a highway full of cars. On the back is a picture of a field with a lot of trees that appears to be a dumping ground for wrecked vehicles. The tragedy of leaps and bounds indeed. We have progressed too fast. As for the music, it is in a similar vein as their debut just not as consistant in my opinion. They released so far 3 albums, this one their second release is from 2002 and named The tragedy of leaps and bounds. The line up from this album is almost diffrent from previous work only two members are the same, the guitarist and the singer, but the music remains on the same characteristics as on first album.
Although subsequent albums would appear beginning in 1988, Leaps & Bounds marked the end of an era, as Adrian Sherwood mourned the recent murder of Prince Far I by all but abandoning reggae for the next four years. Far I is a tangible presence on the album, of course.
