This is a love letter from start to finish. It's the story of us starting from that first day we met in 2004, and that's the story of School of Seven Bells. So much love to all of you. Thank you for being a constant light in our lives. This record is for you.

This Is Our Time Written in the months before founding member Benjamin Curtis tragically lost his battle with cancer in December 2013, SVIIB pulses with life from its opening track Ablaze, a stormy, upbeat pop gem radiating late-’80s shoegaze vibes. livingforte This band changed my life. I fell in love with their sound in Ghostory and am still moved by the heartfelt lyrics and eclectic dreampop soundscape they create in this album.

School of Seven Bells.

School of Seven Bells (often stylized as SVIIB) was an American indie rock band from New York City, formed in 2007. Claudia Deheza left the group in 2010, and Curtis died of lymphoma in 2013.

The songs that comprise SVIIB, School of Seven Bells' latest and possibly final LP, were written shortly before member Benjamin Curtis died in 2013 from sudden-onset lymphoma and completed by band co-founder and Curtis' partner Alejandra Deheza after his death. While it's remarkable that SVIIB exists at all, let alone in such fine form, what’s even more remarkable is how resilient, even joyful it is. These are generous songs, the product of deep caring. The songs that comprise SVIIB, School of Seven Bells' latest and possibly final LP, were written shortly before member Benjamin Curtis died in 2013 from sudden-onset lymphoma and completed by band co-founder and Curtis' partner Alejandra Deheza after his death.

SVIIB is an atypical posthumous release. Although the fourth and presumably final School of Seven Bells album was released in 2016, over two years after the death of the duo's Benjamin Curtis, almost all of it was conceived in 2012, before Curtis learned that he had cancer. Only "Confusion," a placid lament, was written after the diagnosis, recorded during a brief hospital respite from treatment.
