Zoë Keating (born February 2, 1972) is a Canadian-born cellist and composer once based in San Francisco, California, now based in Vermont. Keating performed from 2002 to 2006 as second chair cellist in the cello rock band Rasputina. She is featured on Amanda Palmer's debut solo album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer.

Armed with just her cello and a small box of electronics, Zoë Keating is a one-woman orchestra. She records layer upon layer of cello, her feet dancing over an array of pedals to transform her solo performances into multipart works. Born in Canada and classically trained from the age of eight, Zoë studied music at Sarah Lawrence College in New York City and the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Italy. She has since performed her music live on National Public Radio, on television, outdoors in the Nevada desert, in medieval churches, in punk clubs, and before thousands of screaming teenagers in mainstream rock venues across North America and Europe.

Zoe Keating is a well known cellist that formerly played with the cello themed rock band Rasputina for several years. A talented cello player originally from Canada, Zoe moved to California to pursue her musical career, getting involved with several projects almost immediately before and after taking leave from Rasputina. Other projects have included working with film soundtracks, Mar, Tarentel, John Vanderslice, Amanda Palmer’s debut album, and other solo based projects. With this album dating back to 2005 I’d say it’s about time for Zoe to shell out some new offerings because had I been listening to her solo work since 2004’s . I would be quite on edge for all this time passing by without a new album.

Sometimes something strikes you as amazing, something simple but deep down to a molecular level of you, with which you feel oneness – this is it. If you liked Sascha Ring from Apparat experiments in merging classical string instruments into electronica, you will love this – Zoë brings to life the other side of the line, making cello music with advanced electronic technique. Go get it.
