Koivistoinen 7th album 3rd Version (1973) sees him join forces with members from Heikki Sarmanto Serious Music Ensemble (Heikki Sarmanto, Pekka Sarmanto, drummer Craig Herndon) plus guitar legend Jukka Tolonen. The original art is expanded to gatefold format.

referencing 3rd Version, LP, Album, YFPL 1-804. But that was Eero Koivistoinen, at home with everything from being a pop session musician to the most out there and uncompromising jazz experimentalist. Naturally I like him best when in fusion mode, and Jukka Tolonen here often tries to push the music that way. I'd rate it amongst his best dozen or so.

Eero Koivistoinen: 3rd Version by AAJ Italy Staff, published on September 26, 2011.

3rd Version is Eero Koivistoinen's seventh album and finds him in the company of other excellent Finnish musicians: pianist Heikki Sarmanto, guitarist Jukka Tolonen, bassist Pekka Sarmanto and drummer Reino Laine, plus American drummer Craig Herndon. Except for Tolonen, who is mostly associated with jazz-rock fusion due to his membership in the legendary Finnish bands Tasavallan Presidentti and Wigwam, the rest of the players are all pillars of the Finnish modern jazz scene and all are virtuosi on their respective instruments.

A much more wild and borderline free-jazz album than you'd expect from the musicians involved, and especially when this is the same year as the well-tasty Wahoo!.
