Twofer collects string duets recorded in two separate sessions. The first four tracks are duets between John Corbett on electric guitar and bassist Torsten Müller. The last five showcase Corbett on acoustic guitar and cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm. All improvisations are soft, restrained, and intimate. A lot of room is left for silence. Musical events tend to be short and scattered (this is more the case with the Lonberg-Holm tracks), creating abstract pieces that require the listener's complete attention.

John Corbett (born 1963) is an American writer, musician, radio host, teacher, record producer, concert promoter, and gallery owner based in Chicago, Illinois. He is best known among musicians and music fans as a champion of free jazz and free improvisation. In recent years he has become known in the visual art world as well through his Corbett vs. Dempsey gallery. The Devil's in the Details (with Hal Rammel). Battuto (with Mats Gustafsson, Terri Kapsalis, and Fred Lonberg-Holm). Twofer (with Torsten Müller (musician) and Fred Lonberg-Holm). Humdinger (with Davey Williams).
