Symphony N. In A Major, Opus 92 "Dance". Composed By – Ludwig van Beethoven. Conductor – Pierre Monteux. Orchestra – The London Symphony Orchestra. Matrix, Runout: PRRS3597.

5. Symphony N. In A Major, O. 2: l Poco sostenuto - Vivace. 6. 2: ll Allegretto. Pierre Monteux (1875-1964) recorded a complete stereo cycle of the 9 Beethoven Symphonies 1957-62, near the end of his life and career, well into his 80s. Symphonies 1,3,6 and 8 were with the Vienna Philharmonic; 2,4,5 and 7 with the London Symphony. Monteux is one of the icons of 20th century conducting, and that might be before one even considers he led the premier of The Rite of Spring. I've listened to all of Monteux's mid-late 1960's Beethoven cycle, spread out over three different sets at present (The 9th is fairly dull when one considers the stiff competition for that oft recorded work).

The Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92, is a symphony in four movements composed by Ludwig van Beethoven between 1811 and 1812, while improving his health in the Bohemian spa town of Teplice. The work is dedicated to Count Moritz von Fries. At its premiere, Beethoven was noted as remarking that it was one of his best works. The second movement, Allegretto, was the most popular movement and had to be encored

Pierre Monteux - Listen toPierre Monteux on Deezer. A much-loved institution in the classical music world for more than 70 years, Pierre Monteux was a superstar conductor of the 20th century, who led the major symphony orchestras of the world and was renowned for his light, elegant, sophisticated interpretations of Beethoven, Brahms and Stravinsky. Born in Paris, France, his mother was a piano teacher and sent him to violin lessons at six-years-old, before he began studying the violin at the Conservatoire de Paris where he was conducting orchestras at 12.
