Jack Teagarden (born August 20, 1905, Vernon, Texas, USA - died January 15, 1964, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA) was an American jazz trombonist, bandleader, composer and vocalist. He played with many artists including Peck Kelley, Ben Pollack, Roger Wolfe Kahn, Eddie Condon, Red Nichols, Louis Armstrong, Paul Whiteman as well as fronting his own bands. His brother, Charlie Teagarden was a jazz trumpeter. There is some great Teagarden on Bobby Hackett's Coast Concert album, along with another trombonist, Abe Lincoln, who is great as well. Jack Teagarden made the trombone sexy, and his pliant, lazy tone made the instrument swing like a trumpet

Teagarden's trombone is still one of the sharpest instruments of his generation of jazz – and Jack works here with a mix of players that includes Jimmy McPartland on trumpet, Edmond Hall on clarinet, Dick Cary on piano, Walter Page on bass, and Jo Jones on drums. Most arrangements are by Cary – and Jack sings just a bit, in that wonderfully raspy style of his. Titles include "Misery & The Blues", "Bad Acting Woman", "Meet Me Where They Play The Blues", "Music To Love By", and "High Society".
