Honky Tonk Angels is a collaborative studio album by Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette. It was released on November 2, 1993, by Columbia Records. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on January 5, 1994, for sales of 500,000 copies. The album had been a long-rumored project between the country singers for over a decade. It was mostly Parton's idea to bring together the women who made their musical breakthroughs in the '60s.
Honky Tonkin' Night And Day (4:20). It was 2015 and we were standing on the stage at the Blues Foundation’s Awards show in Memphis, named as Band of the Year for our work with Elvin Bishop. When my turn came to speak all I could think was: I love this band! We aren’t the Elvin Bishop Band anymore, but we still love making music together. There’s a lot of experience here. I’ve been a working musician for 50 years now, much of that time spent in bars in the Southwest, playing rock and roll, country and blues for the local folks. It’s not beer and big-legged women, but it’s got a beat and you can dance to it. Too Much Love. As if there can ever be too much.
Christina's first radio single, "Cry You A River," shipped to country radio and can be heard on stations nationwide. On the subject of his sound - unique to the country genre - Josh Christina has made clear he's leading a trend that's been a long time coming. With his newfound passion for piano, Christina began writing, drawing inspiration from the "simple yet clever corny rhymes" of writers Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Stevie Ray Vaughn. After graduating from Dulaney High School in 2013, the Cockeysville native went to work on his debut album, produced by John Grant at Secret Sound Studio.
Some of the best honky-tonk songs were made famous by country music royalty. Merle Haggard sang about his own honky-tonk, where he took up residence after a broken relationship in Swinging Doors. All he needed was a bar stool, a jukebox, a flashing neon sign, and those swinging doors. Other good honky-tonk songs on this list include classics from Loretta Lynn ( Honky Tonk Girl ), Willie Nelson ( If You’ve Got the Money ) and several from Hank Williams, S. including There’s a Tear in My Beer. George Jones, who has one of the all-time greatest voices in country music, sang some top honky-tonk songs, including She Thinks I Still Care. Famous honky-tonk songs involve bars, booze and a hefty dose of heartache.
Honky Tonk Man" – Dwight Yoakam. With thick telecaster guitar tones, a shuffling chorus and lyrics about jukeboxes and callin' up the misses after a few tall ones, it's more than a night out – it's a lifestyle. Just ask Mr. Yoakam, who's down at the bar in this excellent 1986 video (Dwight's take on the 1956 Johnny Horton classic), playing cards and givin' all the girls a whirl before it's time to go home. Blake describes some of the perils of fueling up for a good time on this piano-laced Honky Tonk tune. Getting loud and breaking out embarrassing moves all over the dance floor are just the start in the story of how one drink can lead to another. Sung with a smile, the bluesy tune reached Top 20 radio status in 2007 while most certainly being heard on college campuses across the country. Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On" – Neal McCoy.

Honky Tonk Time Machine is a triumphant return to honky tonk music for the best country singer of all time. the first sonk, "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar". is vintage Strait with fiddles, steel guitar, and catchy lyrics; a great dance tune. There should be a couple more number ones on this album, if the idiots who run country radio will play them. I bought it on vinyl because that's how I prefer to listen at home, but just the cover is reason enough to own the LP. Nice touch with the tribute to his Texas honky tonk roots, featuring Austins legendary Broken Spoke.
Like the music, honky tonk lyrics are emotionally simple and direct, often with a plain-spoken vulnerability and a sense of emotional release. Instead of depicting rural life, though, honky tonk's subject matter was rooted in its immediate surroudings - taverns. Celebrations of romance, parties, and good times were quite common (as were novelty songs), but honky tonk became especially well-known for its fascination with the flip side: heartbreak, infidelity, pain that could only be numbed with alcohol, morning-after remorse, and religious guilt
