The album contains recordings from their latest visit to the USA as part of the Popestar Tour, and includes their huge hit Square Hammer. The record begins with the aforementioned track, starting moments before the band step foot on stage at the end of their pre-gig ritual. The sound is exceptional, with the recording being crystal clear, and Papa Emeritus III showcasing his vocal talents on the live stage. It also captures the feel of the show too, and the whole essence gives the sense that you’re stood among the crowd witnessing the performance. Ceremony and Devotion though is one of the better live albums that have been produced in recent years, as it captures all the good points of a live GHOST performance, and the recordings themselves all have an excellent overall sound quality. Ceremony and Devotion is out now via Spinefarm Records.

I won a test pressing autographed by Papa Emeritus III. Came in two black sleeves (the sleeves are autographed as can be seen in the picture). Both records say "Side A" and "Side B." There is a sticker on each record denoting which one is A&B and which one is C&D, as well as the date it was pressed (10-23-17).

Does anybody know more about the "explicit artwork" sleeves? Where do they pop up? Just out of curiosity. Saw none of them at my local store who has all the Swedish colour variations.

Its a few copies that were chosen to have this uncensored cover art, it is unclear how many but they are all on this yellow vinyl variant.

No this color version is not numbered and does not contain any sticker with hand written numbering like some of the other versions.

Great live record like the old bands used to do, back when music mattered. Beyond all the butthurt about lawsuits and this or that one of the nameless ghouls that were your favorite being gone, and all the other annoying things that the fandom of this band has become, there is still great music! I'm glad there is finally a live album out there from THE live band to see right now.

The "old" bands didn't play with such an obvious click track.

The huge problem with this release is that everyone is so reliant on the click track to make sure that Tobias has his backing track for the harmonies that it takes away from any kind of live feel. "Ghuleh/Zombie Queen" and "Year Zero" is a testament to it all. If the "band" could just play without the goddamn click to feel alive, maybe the whole stage show could come alive for the people that weren't there screaming that they like to "drink blood." I love this band in album form, but this approach needs to go.
