The Supremes were a very successful Motown all-female singing group active from 1959 until 1977, performing at various times doo-wop, pop, soul, Broadway showtunes, psychedelia, and disco. One of Motown's signature acts, The Supremes were the most successful African-American musical act of the 1960s, recording twelve hits between 1964 and 1969, many of them written and produced by Motown's main songwriting and production team, nd.
Motown 25 was a showcase for the highly anticipated reunion of the Supremes: Diana Ross, Mary Wilson and Supremes replacement Cindy Birdsong (original member Florence Ballard had died in 1976). Four of their greatest hits were to be sung that night, including "Someday We'll Be Together", "Baby Love" and "Stop! In the Name of Love", however this reunion was cut short. Richard Pryor opened the segment with a fairy-tale story of 'three maidens from the Projects of Brewster' which was then followed with a montage of various Supremes' video clips. The name of that release is The Motown Story: First 25 Years. That album, now out of print, received a Grammy nomination as Best Historical Recording, Jon Badeaux, Producer. The special was the highest-viewed prime time show in the United States for the week.

After finishing the first five or six songs, I ditched The Evolution of Motown Music (1960-1994) so I could finish the decade series. But here it is now, almost two months later. I hope you will enjoy the video! Motown is a record company founded by Berry Gordy, Jr. in 1959 in Detroit, Michigan, United States. The name, a portmanteau of motor and town, is also a nickname for Detroit. Motown played an important role in the racial integration of popular music by achieving a crossover success
In "After Twenty Years," a cop is patrolling the street when he comes upon Bob. Bob explains that he is waiting for his friend, Jimmy . The narrator in "After Twenty Years" does not reveal the inner thoughts of any of the characters. What is remarkable about this story is its strict objectivity. Most readers don't find anything unusual about the man in the doorway the first time they read "After Twenty Years.
