Justin Vivian Bond (born May 9, 1963) is an American singer-songwriter, author, painter, performance artist, and actor. Described as "the best cabaret artist of his generation" and a "tornado of art and activism," Bond first achieved prominence under the pseudonym of Kiki Durane in the stage duo Kiki and Herb, an act born out of a collaboration with long-time co-star Kenny Mellman.

The material comprising Dendrophile reveals the variety of Bond’s artistic passions and is greatly influenced by early & folk-pop variety records by artists that defied genre and could easily go from protest songs to jazz standards, from adapting a traditional folk song to singing cabaret music. Features original compositions and select covers of Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins/Joan Baez, and Exuma. Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman), plays piano, serves as bandleader, and produced the album with help from Pat Dillett (David Byrne, Caetano Veloso, Laurie Anderson)

Justin Vivian Bond the greatest cabaret artist of ’s generation. On this intimate recording, Bond is joined by pianist and producer Thomas Bartlett (Doveman), covers songs by Ronee Blakley, Kate Bush, Leonard Cohen, Tracy Chapman, Joni Mitchell, Mark Eitzel and Brecht & Weill, among others. Bond will perform material from the album in a six-. week residency (June 4-July 9) at the new Studio 54 cabaret venue, 54 Below. For the album, Bond set out to choose a group of songs that would allow v to cover the book’s themes of dislocation, nihilism, postmodernist identities, loss and the retrieval of memory.

DENDROPHILE is Justin Vivian Bonds first full-length album as a solo artist. It encapsulates the various and constantly evolving dimaensions of Bonds career post-Kiki and Herb. Bond - who prefers the gender-neutral pronoun V - has evolved as an artist, is writing V's own songs, and selecting other material that seems written with Bond in mind. It's hard to go past The End, so to speak, originally performed by Bond in the John Cameron Mitchell film Shortbus, but there are other songs I keep returning to, such as Genet Song and Golden Age of Hustlers.

In "Songs of a Dendrophile" Justin Vivian Bond celebrates both the Summer Solstice and the fifth anniversary of their first solo album "Dendrophile" which was released in the spring of 2011. The Public is Theater Of, By, and For All People.
