After issuing the music-oriented efforts Silver Throat: Bill Cosby Sings and Bill Cosby Sings Hooray for the Salvation Army Band! in 1967, comedian Bill Cosby returned to standup on the following year's To Russell, My Brother, Whom I Slept With. Unlike his earlier comedy recordings - which found Cosby in the comparatively intimate confines of a nightclub or lounge - here he is captured live in front of an SRO audience at the significantly larger Cleveland Public Auditorium circa early 1968  . The album would be the last of Cosby's classic '60s platters to hit the Top Ten pop survey, where it landed at an impressive number seven in April of 1968.

To Russell, My Brother, Whom I Slept With is the sixth comedy album by Bill Cosby, and his eighth album overall. It was recorded in 1968 in the Cleveland Public Auditorium, and released later that year, on a 12" vinyl record. The day of the recording, Cleveland experienced a severe ice storm which tied traffic up considerably. The forms whom and whose derive respectively from the Old English dative and genitive forms of hwā, namely hwām and hwæs. Maybe it´s raining because i spun off with a soda on top of my car, sat in the almighty sun till it dried nice and hand. Oh where´s my head gone, close to home i´m head strong. On the floor pool of blood what happened. A pounding on, my skull sent a sonic boom through my head golf club falls sending another vibration through my temple, a mist makes it hard to see.
