Year of the Snitch is the sixth studio album by experimental hip hop group Death Grips, released on June 22, 2018, through Third Worlds and Harvest Records. With the release of Steroids (Crouching Tiger Hidden Gabber Megamix), Death Grips announced they were "working on the new Death Grips album".

Year of the Snitch is Death Grips' sixth album, released on June 22nd, 2018, as a follow up to their 2016 release Bottomless Pit. The group first announced they were working on a new album on May 22, 2017, when they released the Steroids (Crouching Tiger Hidden Gabber) mix. Leading up to the release, they announced they were working with various collaborators, including film director Andrew Adamson and Tool bassist Justin Chancellor.

Of course, like every Death Grips album, Year of the Snitch is about 10 minutes too long. Much like 2016’s Bottomless Pit, this album isn’t a significantly weaker work than The Money Store or NO LOVE DEEP WEB, but as with everything Death Grips, context matters

Overall, Year of the Snitch feels like a personal experiment for Death Grips, but tilting towards a more mainstream sound. Not to say that the band has compromised its experimental attitude, but there is a definite leaning towards a more straightforward form, which in this case arrives with the heavier implementation of rock music motifs. Death Grips have not lost it yet. This is Death Grips most diverse album yet in my opinion, with a smorgasbord of different sounds. Many tracks on here take inspiration from different genres of music, with a Death Grips spin on them; such as rave music, arena-rock, punk-rock, jazz-rock, more traditional hip-hop, and probably more I couldn't pin-point myself. With all these sounds, Death.

Following a two-year hiatus after the release of Bottomless Pit, the revered Sactown rap-rockers are officially back with their sixth studio album, Year of The Snitch. This after weeks of bazaar-titled teaser tracks like Flies, Ha Ha Ha and Streaky. Not to mention this project saw the band working closely with Shrek 2 director Andrew Adamson and Tool bassist, Justin Chancellor. Meanwhile, the Death Grips had their video for Shitshow (NSFW) removed from YouTube last week for violating its terms stemming from a man wiping his butt amongst other infractions. Death Grips’ latest project is perplexing, but decidedly dark. In many ways, Year of the Snitch coalesces everything the group’s released to date, but stripped everything down to the basics and reworked it into a frenetic, indecipherable puzzle. Whereas Bottomless Pit bombarded fans with primal immediacy, Year of the Snitch seems perfectly content to leave the listener spinning in circles.

Following 2016's Bottomless Pit, here the band deliver their sixth LP, Year of the Snitch. Here, however, it seems that Death Grips have opted to go for more surrealism this time.
