Poem Rocket is a New York band led by vocalists Mike Peters and Sandra Gardner who intone twisted melodies over dissonant structures inspired to Sonic Youth's guitar noise. Their experiments with the song format took off with a series of adventurous singles, in particular Period/ Flaw (Bear, 1995) and Small White Animal (PCP, 1995), collected on Felix Culpa (PCP, 1996). The album Infinite Retry On Parallel Time-Out (PCP, 1997) and the single Desire Illuminated/ Electronimo (Magic Eye, 1998) showcase challenging songs that are aural puzzles soaked in the history of rock music

Felix culpa is a Latin phrase that comes from the words felix, meaning "happy," "lucky," or "blessed" and culpa, meaning "fault" or "fall". In the Catholic tradition, the phrase is most often translated "happy fault," as in the Catholic Exsultet. Other translations include "blessed fall" or "fortunate fall". As a theological concept, felix culpa is a way of understanding the Fall as having positive outcomes, such as the redemption of humankind through the Resurrection
