In its earliest moments, rather than being filled with gargantuan containers of entropy such as black holes, as we would expect from probabilistic considerations, for some reason the nascent universe was filled with a hot, uniform, gaseous mixture of hydrogen and helium.

Entropy is the only quantity in the physical sciences (apart from certain rare interactions in particle physics; see below) that requires a particular direction for time, sometimes called an arrow of time. As one goes "forward" in time, the second law of thermodynamics says, the entropy of an isolated system can increase, but not decrease. Hence, from one perspective, entropy measurement is a way of distinguishing the past from the future.

However, this energy must come from some source; considered as a whole system, the entropy increases over a long time, even though some parts of it decrease (temporarily and locally). In the case of the Earth, you could say the life is in the business of decreasing its own entropy. But it does this by consuming energy from external source - usually light from the Sun, if you trace it back far enough.

High-entropy alloys (HEAs) are alloys that are formed by mixing equal or relatively large proportions of (usually) five or more elements. Prior to the synthesis of these substances, typical metal alloys comprised one or two major components with smaller amounts of other elements

Like I said, low entropy could cause some slowdows, that is why I messed with it in the first place. Also, using /dev/random in combination with /dev/urandom, vice versa or only /dev/urandom is a hotly debated topic. However, since reading and learning more about them, I concur albeit with hesitation. Random number generation is very important when it comes to cryptography.

In some cases, we defined what belongs here by thinking about what the music is not. We made a conscious decision to not include records that wound up on our Best Shoegaze Albums list-even though shoegaze and dream pop have, at times, been used interchangeably-and we avoided the more twee end of the indie pop spectrum. That fall, we played some nervous local gigs, and in February, with a half-dozen half-written songs, we drove down to New York to record with producer Mark Kramer at his studio in Tribeca. The debut album from Captured Tracks stalwarts DIIV didn’t intentionally set out to channel dream pop.

Description: this site will not stream certain songs on an album even though they are not grayed out and are not on the local disk. There is a "now playing" speaker icon beside the song, and it shows the song as playing in the "now playing" side pane, but the track time/seek bar doesn't show and the track won't start playing. Just helps diagnose the issue. Then just paste it into a post.
