The Violets were an original rock band that played and recorded in Athens GA from 1988 to 1992 . This is a tribute album of artists doing post-Clash Joe Strummer and Mick Jones compositions that would have most likely been Clash songs had the band stayed together! Hand numbered and limited to 1000 copies! Recutting The Crap Vol 2 comes in Green vinyl. com/watch?v MQIK9H2bIpU.
Seven March Violets singles reached the UK Indie Chart; the Natural History collection also was an indie hit (hitting No. 3 in 1984).
Redirected from The Violets (band)). The Violets were a post punk/indie/pop band from the New Cross area of London. Formed initially as a bassless garage punk trio, The Violets early gigs saw them playing stark, spiky and minimalist punk that evoked early art-school punk bands such as Delta 5, Prag Vec, and Siouxsie and the Banshees, as well as more contemporary acts such as Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
The Violets were a post punk/indie/pop band from the New Cross area of London. At the start of 2007 The Violets released their most acclaimed and successful single to date, 'Foreo'. This song was inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock film Marnie, which featured a horse named Foreo. The band supported this release by touring with The Gossip in February, including a show at the London Astoria as part of the NME Awards Shows.

Próximamente os presentamos nuestro próximo LP "Maybe this".
The vocal similarity is so uncanny that it must be mentioned immediately: Alexis Mary, lead singer of the Violets, sounds shockingly like Siouxsie Sioux. It's most notable on up-tempo tracks like the frenetic, 98-second blast "Descend," and the angular, Metric-like dance rock of first single "Troubles of Keneat," but even the more languid tunes on The Lost Pages bear a startling vocal resemblance.
