Exposure is the debut solo album by guitarist and composer Robert Fripp. Unique among Fripp solo projects for its focus on the pop song format, it grew out of his previous collaborations with David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, and Daryl Hall, and the latter two singers appear on the album. Released in 1979, it peaked at No. 79 on the Billboard Album Chart. Most of the lyrics were provided by the poet and lyricist Joanna Walton, who was later killed on Pan Am Flight 103.

Robert Fripp: Exposure by John Kelman, published on June 18, 2006. When King Crimson Robert Fripp disbanded the group in 1974, it seemed as though he'd grown tired of being its de facto leader. But he remained active, performing with artists as diverse as Brian Eno, David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates and Blondie. While listeners who'd lost touch with him after King Crimson were undoubtedly shocked, those who continued following him were not at all surprised when his first solo album, Exposure, was released in 1979.

Robert Fripp’s soundscapes have always sounded as though they’d be remarkable in an orchestral setting and so with this album, originally released in 2012, it has proved to be. Yet that transition hasn’t been easy or obvious. Dating back to the summer of 2000 when Bert Lams’ (of the California Guitar Trio) handed over his painstaking transcriptions to Keeling, the Metropole Orchestra in Amsterdam performed these pieces in 2003.
