Duffy’s Tavern was a radio sitcom that aired from 1940 to 1952 on CBS (1941-1942), NBC Blue (1942-1944), and NBC (1944-1951). The title refers to a place situated on 23rd St. in New York, managed by a guy named Archie, played by Ed Gardner. Shirley Booth, Gardner’s wife, also starred with him on this show. Booth had the role of Miss Duffy. At the beginning of each episode, the song When Irish Eyes are Smiling, will be heard, which will be interrupted when Archie gets a phone call.
