Harry Shearer began his career as a child actor in 1950s movies ("The Robe") and television ("The Jack Benny Program"). Shearer also played the precursor to the Eddie Haskell character in the pilot episode of the TV series "Leave It to Beaver. Shearer was later a member of Los Angeles radio comedy group "The Credibility Gap," 1968–1974, and a writer for such television shows as "Fernwood 2-Night" and "Laverne and Shirley.

Shearer, a voice actor on "The Simpsons" (1989 to present), provides the voices of Mr. Burns, Waylon Smithers, Ned Flanders, Reverend Timothy Lovejoy, Kent Brockman, Dr. Julius Hibbert, Dr. Marvin Monroe, Lenny Leonard, Principal Seymour Skinner, Otto Mann, Scratchy and Rainier Wolfcastle among others. Harry Julius Shearer (born December 23, 1943) is an American actor, voice actor, comedian, writer, musician, radio host, director and producer. Born in Los Angeles, California, Shearer began his career as a child actor. From 1969 to 1976, Shearer was a member of The Credibility Gap, a radio comedy group. Shearer has released five solo comedy albums: It Must Have Been Something I Said (1994), Dropping Anchors (2006), Songs Pointed and Pointless (2007), Songs of the Bushmen (2008) and Greed and Fear (2010). His most recent CD, Greed and Fear is mainly about Wall Street economic issues, rather than politics like his previous albums.
