Bob Wills Is Still the King" is a song written and performed by American country music artist Waylon Jennings, as a tribute of sorts to the Western swing icon Bob Wills. It is known in two forms. A live recording of the song was released in June 1975 as the concluding track on the album Dreaming My Dreams, and then appeared in August 1975 as the B-side of "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way", the second single from the album.

Wills not only learned traditional music from his family, he learned some Blues songs directly from African Americans in the cotton fields near Lakeview, Texas, and said that he did not play with many white children other than his siblings, until he was seven or eight years ol. This was one of Wills' finest collections using the stereo sound of the late '60s. The sound is huge and rich, and his band here really captures a "big" sound. The album "Best of Bob Wills" released by MCA in 1967 has the same big brass sections and percussion arrangements. The instrumental Cimarron is a lively example, and is on both albums. This album also contains my favorite versions of Big Beaver and Lily Dale, versions that aren't found on most of his "greatest hits" collections (of which there are many). Would love to see this album available in DVD form.
