However, the album’s title functions better when you think of its tracks quite literally like a lost and found; a mixed bag of personal items, tied to varying experiences and memories, placed in a sort of limbo where they are neither fully claimed or thrown away. Each of the album's tracks works similarly, with Smith’s emotions landing in that same limbo for which she can neither reconcile with or let go of completely
The Good: Lost & Found is a carefully constructed album, full of songs that play on jazz, boom-bap, and lounge, updating familiar styles with a contemporary sheen. Smith purposefully chose to avoid any features on the album, a confident move that pays off as her songwriting decisions prove a clear command of her range. She initially envisioned Lost & Found as a record of sad love songs, but instead ended up penning several complex songs of desire, avoiding cliche through her emotional clarity and directness
I really enjoyed every This is the first Mudvayne album I've aqquired and frankly I think its one of the best I've gotten recently. I really enjoyed every track on the album but "Happy?" is by far the best song on the album, if not one of the best songs released this year. Dont listen to these geeks downing the album, listen to it for yourself before making a decision on this one, IMO this album is great and offers the promise of more great albums to come. 0 of 0 users found this helpful.
