Antiphon is the fourth studio album by American folk rock band Midlake, released on November 5, 2013, on Bella Union Records, in Europe, and ATO Records in North America. Recorded following the departure of vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter Tim Smith, Antiphon is the first album to feature guitarist Eric Pulido on lead vocals, alongside new members Jesse Chandler (keyboards, flute) and Joey McClellan (guitar). Released to critical acclaim, the album reached number 39 on the UK Albums Chart.
Former Midlake singer Tim Smith wasn’t just any old frontman. You can still hear the stately vocal layers of the Moody Blues as (title track, lead single and album opener) ‘Antiphon’ comes cantering through the psych undergrowth. Aurora Gone’ is a flute-framed acoustic ode to letting love and the good life slip through your fingers, with a circling, ‘Mad World’-style minor melody.
But their fourth album is another fascinating departure, but also a logical progression.
Find the poor all kneeled down before He who takes and defiles I want more, I want more. Idols wore fine wool at the door To revile then forsake Fight a war, fight a war. Antiphon antipho. ight a war, fight a wa. ried and bore blame for all ignored Head contrived, tongue applied, Nevermore, nevermore. Antiphon antiphon antiphon antipho. ntiphon antiphon antiphon antipho. want more than kneel down before Fight a war, they sit at the door Nevermore, all to be ignored To the call, a response.

Midlake - Antiphon - Midlake CD DAVG The Fast Free Shipping. Midlake's first album after the departure of front man and chief songwriter, Tim Smith. Tim Smith's talents are considerable but Antiphon shows us just how talented Smith's band mates are-and how their founder's talents may, in fact, have overshadowed and suppressed the full display of Midlake's true potential. This is an amazing album. A very smooth, melodic, instrumentally diverse and sophisticated album on which the participation and contributions of every member of the whole band is strongly felt.
